The start of it all ~ Ava

Morganna Mozart x Country Mistress
My Weimaraner 'bug' began with Ava. She was my first ever dog and arrived after much research into various breeds. I decided the Weimaraner was for me and I took up the challenge with real enthusiasm.
Ava was not an easy puppy, she had enthusiasm, energy, stubbornness and character by the bucketful! Along with all that she was very bright and could, on occasions, be extremely biddable. I started a steep learning curve about dog training and by 5 months old, she had moved from puppy & beginner classes to a pet advanced class.
My life took a huge change of direction and to cut a long story short, Ava was rehomed at a point in her life and training where she needed real consistency. Eight months later, a further change of circumstances meant she was able to come home, and a dear friend Sheila Hocken suggested we try our hand at Working Trials training.
Ava took to tracking, searching and agility like a duck to water but she had very different ideas about control. Heelwork meant sniffing the ground, retrieving a dumbell meant running around a field holding it and down stays meant 'stand-up' stays! But we persevered, despite many negative comments from judges and other trainers and managed to qualify UD and UDex followed by CDex after many, many attempts.
Whilst trialling down in Somerset one weekend, I saw a longhaired weimaraner working and it was love at first sight. Rhia was owned by Theresa and Gary Clinick and they had a litter planned for spring 2000. My name went on the list for a puppy for working trials and in May of that year Callie was born.
